Electronic-Mail-HoneywellDo you remember life without email? I can't begin to imagine my life without e-mail - and yet, there was a time when this communication medium didn't even exist!

In this Throwback Thursday feature, we take a look at this 1977 magazine ad, where Honeywell aims at explaining "electronic mail". The ad states: "Your mailbox is the terminal on your desk. Punch a key and today's correspondence and messages are displayed instantly".

Email as a way to communicate in business has forever transformed how we do our jobs. And it’s all happened in just a couple of decades. Very few people used email consistently even 20 years ago. Today, people send 100 billion business-related emails a day, according to research by the Radicati Group. That number is expected to hit 130 billion by 2017!
