In our blog Nutanix .Next 2019– Review and Announcements, we talked about the 3D vision of Dheeraj Pandey, CEO of Nutanix.

  • The first D (Data) corresponded to the importance given to data.
  • The second D (Design) marked the importance of designing simple software and products that are effortless for the end user and made available to them in a timely manner.
  • The third D of success was transparent software Delivery, with Nutanix delivering its products in every way - devices, software, subscriptions and cloud computing.

We also mentioned the Nutanix Mine, Xi Frame and Xi IoT announcements.

One year later, what will be remembered from Nutanix .Next 2020?

First of all, the .Next 2020 conference, which was initially to be held in Paris, was turned into a free virtual event, accessible to as many people as possible.

It took place over 3 days, the last being dedicated to partners.

During the opening keynote, Dheeraj Pandey, who is about to step down as soon as his successor is appointed, emphasized the partnership with Microsoft Azure, the Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure and his perspective of the future.

Microsoft partnership

After announcing the availability of Nutanix Cluster on AWS just a few weeks ago, Dheeraj says it's time for Nutanix to take things up a notch by also running Nutanix Cluster in Azure. The strategic agreement with Microsoft Azure includes the development of Nutanix-compatible nodes on Azure to support Nutanix clusters and services.

HCI

It's all about delivering the same experience on premises and in public cloud. With portable licenses that can not only run Nutanix Clusters, but also connect to native services from AWS or Azure. In the same token HCI no longer means Hyperconverged Infrastructure, but rather Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure.

The future: Pure software "consolidation"

Today processing capacity, storage, networking, and security are software-defined, allowing mobility. We can now move them from one place to another. We can even move an entire data center from one location to another. The strength of Nutanix's approach is to standardize and simplify the mobility of applications, and also of data centers. It also helps standardize skills by avoiding Amazon, Azure or private cloud expertise silos.

And finally, Nutanix standardizes the user experience on and off site.

According to Dheeraj, in the coming years, we will see at Nutanix, an even greater software consolidation of the private cloud and the hybrid cloud according to the one-click philosophy.

Announcements

Obviously, .Next 2020 saw a lot of announcements all in line with the Nutanix dynamic Run Better, Run Faster and Run Anywhere.

Details of these announcements are available here.

What to remember from this event?

Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication. It is difficult to achieve but yet absolutely necessary for the efficient functioning of IT teams in the rapid and optimal provision of applications, and more generally for the results of companies.

From our perspective, Nutanix is certainly the undisputed leader in the industry. After creating the hyperconvergence market and making infrastructure invisible,  Nutanix is now making Hybrid Cloud and Multi Cloud equally invisible.

Nutanix once again brings its vision to life through flawless execution.

We look forward to continuing to contribute to the success of our customers with this winning technology approach.

We are also looking forward to .Next 2021.
